Biographie

Je suis un chercheur postdoctoral à l’école d’ingénierie et d’informatique de l’Université de Sussex (R.-U.). Mes recherches portent sur l’application des approches computationnelles Bayesiennes à la cognition humaine, notamment telle qu’étudiée dans les domaines du droit, de la psychiatrie, de l’anthropologie cognitive évolutionnaire, et de la biologie évolutionnaire. Mon parcours universitaire inclut des études en droit (LL. B. UdeM), en philosophie (B.A., UQAM, M.A., K.U. Leuven), en sciences cognitives (M.Sc., University of Amsterdam), et en philosophie de la biomédecine (Ph.D., University of Sydney).

I am a postdoctoral research fellow at the School of Engineering and Informatics of the University of Sussex (UK). My research focuses on Bayesian approaches to human cognition as applied to the study of Law, Psychiatry, Evolutionary Cognitive Anthropology, and Evolutionary Biology. My training includes studies in Law (LL. B., UdeM), Philosophy (B.A., UQAM, M.A., K.U. Leuven), Cognitive Science (M.Sc., University of Amsterdam), and the Philosophy of Biomedicine (Ph.D., University of Sydney).

Projet

Le projet de recherche sur lequel je travaillerai en collaboration avec les groupes de Jonathan Simon (département de philosophie) et de Yoshua Bengio (département d’informatique et de recherche opérationnelle) est intitulé « Digital Minds Project ». Mes recherches porteront sur la traduction/implémentation de concepts philosophiques reliés à la conscience (« consciouness ») dans l’appareil conceptuel des sciences computationnelles, ainsi que sur les implications éthiques d’une telle pratique.

I work in collaboration with the groups of Jonathan Simon (Department of Philosophy) and Yoshua Bengio (Department of Computer Science and Operational Research) on the project entitled “Digital Minds Project”. My focus is on translational work between the philosophy of consciousness and the computational sciences. One of the goals of this research is to explore the ethical ramifications of implementing consciousness dynamics into computer models.
