À l’occasion des midis de l’éthique du CRÉ, Martin Gibert nous offrira une présentation intitulée « AI and moral considerability ».
Résumé
In this paper with Dominic Martin, we are looking for some arguments in favour of moral duties toward AI. We take inspiration in non anthropocentric fields of applied ethics, namely environmental and animal ethics. We will argue that 1) we may have indirect duties toward AI, 2) we don’t have (direct) duties because they are intelligent, 3) we may have (micro) duties toward alive AI, at least if we admit duties toward plants, 4) we will have duties toward sentient AI (if such things are possible).
