Supporters of epistemic democracy have usually insisted on the theoretical compatibility between certain general epistemological propositions – like the jury or the diversity-trumps-ability theorems – and egalitarian normative principles. They have payed less attention to the specific ways in which epistemic democracy plays out at the level of concrete political practice. It is time to shift the locus of epistemic arguments about democracy from the abstract level of principles to the real world of institutional design.
