Ryoa Chung (University of Montréal) publishes a new commentary entitled “The anatomy of social dismemberment” in the journal Critical Review of International Social and Political Philosophy.

The author’s commentary focuses on the third chapter of Inés Valdez’s book, Democracy and Empire (Cambridge University Press, 2023), titled “The Brown Family and Social Reproduction in US Capitalism.” Chung relays how this chapter takes a closer look at how the social reproduction of white privilege is intrinsically dependent on the exploitation of non-white immigration and, as a corollary, the social dismemberment of the non-white family unit.
