Abstract

This article discusses three critiques of my book Le pire des maux. Éthique et ontologie du spécisme (2024b). In response to Sarah Zanaz, I clarify the distinction between defining and describing, and I reject systemic accounts of speciesism. I then defend my conceptions of ableism and speciesism against an objection raised by Virginie Simoneau-Gilbert. Finally, I respond to Nicolas Delon, who attacks both my definition of speciesism and my assertion that speciesism exists.
