“La Constitution québécoise prétend vouloir protéger les femmes. La réalité est toute autre”
Naïma Hamrouni (Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières) publishes a new opinion piece entitled “La Constitution québécoise prétend vouloir protéger les femmes. La réalité est toute autre” in The Conversation. The article discusses the province of Quebec’s proposed decision to enshrine abortion rights in its Constitution.
The author argues that even though this initiative is presented to the public as a powerful symbol of gender equality, it could paradoxically undermine women’s actual access to this service, in addition to conveying a simplistic view of the feminist struggle for reproductive justice.
