Biography
Matthew Valiquette is an administrative assistant at the CRÉ. He is currently pursuing a PhD in philosophy at McGill University, under the supervision of Eran Tal and Ian Gold, with funding and support from the Canada Graduate Research Scholarship-Doctoral program (CGRS-D). Before joining the CRÉ, he obtained his Bachelor’s degree with Great Distinction from Concordia University and a Master’s degree in the philosophy of science from the University of Toronto. Matthew also worked as a research assistant, under the supervision of Eric Racine, at the Pragmatic Health Ethics Research Unit of the Institut de recherche cliniques de Montréal.
His research focuses primarily on the philosophy of science, the philosophy of mind, the philosophy and ethics of technology, and bioethics. The questions that interest him most concern the measurement and interpretation of data in psychiatry and psychology, both from an epistemic and normative perspective. Matthew is also interested in ontological questions related to the nature of the mind and the phenomenological aspects of subjectivity and self-consciousness.
