Biography

Laurence Dufour-Villeneuve is a doctoral candidate in philosophy at the Université de Montréal, where she also obtained her master’s degree in philosophy. Under the supervision of Aude Bandini (UdeM), her research lies at the intersection of feminist epistemology, Science and Technology Studies (STS), and biomedical humanities.

Her doctoral project examines endometriosis through an account of situated knowledge developed by Donna Haraway. Drawing on feminist epistemology and STS, her research questions different networks of biomedical knowledge production practices and explores alternative approaches to understanding this chronic condition. Her research aims in particular to re-interpret endometriosis as an object of knowledge in order to influence the natural history of the disease.

Laurence also teaches feminist philosophy at the undergraduate level at the Université de Montréal.
