Biography

Grégoire René is a doctoral student in philosophy at McGill University in the Gender and Women’s Studies program under the supervision of Natalie Stoljar (McGill). He previously obtained a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the Université de Montréal and a master’s degree in philosophy and bioethics from McGill University under the supervision of Ian Gold (McGill). His research interests lie in feminist theory, social ontology, and conceptual engineering. His current research, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), focuses on the nature and function of masculinity under patriarchy. He is also interested more generally in political philosophy, ethics, and the work of Michel Foucault.
