Biography

Gabriel holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Montreal. He is currently a doctoral candidate in practical philosophy at the University of Sherbrooke, under the supervision of François Claveau (UdeS) and Mathieu Ouimet (ULaval). His research focuses on the normative dimensions of expertise. He studies the discourses of influential actors in the field of scientific advice — the use of scientific knowledge to inform decision-making — in order to reconstruct, analyze, and critique the sociopolitical role and norms these actors associate with scientific advice. More generally, Gabriel’s interests include political epistemology, the philosophy of social sciences, and political philosophy. He is a student member and scholarship recipient of the Réseau francophone international en conseil scientifique (RFICS) and of the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche sur la science et la technologie (CIRST).
