Biography
Frédéric is currently a PhD student in Philosophy at the University of Montreal under the supervision of the wonderful Christine Tappolet (Université de Montréal). He holds a Bachelor’s degree in French Literature, a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, and a master’s degree in Philosophy, all three also from the University of Montreal. His thesis, supervised by the sensational Aude Bandini (Université de Montréal), focused on Michael Williams’ inferential contextualism. Although still present in his heart, epistemology had to give its left ventricle’s place to other branches of philosophy following his awareness of the massacre of non-human animals.
His research interests now lie mainly in animal ethics, philosophy of emotions, ethology (rest in peace Jane Goodall), and comparative psychology. More specifically, Frédéric is interested in the self-regulation of emotions in nonhuman animals. The primary objective of his thesis is to advance studies on the emotional lives of animals, their emotional consciousness, and possible moral agency.
