Biography
Anaid Ochoa is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Philosophy at the Université de Montréal, hosted by the Groupe de recherche interuniversitaire sur la normativité (GRIN), under the supervision of Professor Aude Bandini and the co-supervision of Professor Marc-Kevin Daoust (École de technologie supérieure). She completed her PhD in Philosophy at McGill University (2025), supervised by Michael Blome-Tillmann, with a dissertation titled Lotteries and the Roads to Knowledge Failure, on the epistemic status of beliefs supported by bare statistical evidence.
Her postdoctoral research develops a unified theoretical framework for explaining when belief, disbelief, and suspension of judgment are epistemically justified, applied to social phenomena such as testimony, institutional distrust, testimonial injustice, and legal fact-finding. Her broader research interests lie in traditional and social epistemology, and their intersections with ethics and philosophy of mind.
