Biography

France Lacharité, who earned a master’s degree in Contemporary Religious Studies from the University of Sherbrooke in 2021, is currently pursuing her doctoral studies under the supervision of Professors Bertrand Lavoie (UdeS), Marc Dumas, and Louise La Fontaine. As part of her dissertation, she is conducting ethnographic research on the moral experiences of healthcare staff who care for seriously ill children and their families in a pediatric hospital in Quebec. She is particularly interested in the contexts of finitude associated with pediatric end-of-life care and their influence on the moral experiences of healthcare providers, as well as the existential anxieties and questions of meaning that permeate their daily practice.

More broadly, her research interests focus on the humanization of end-of-life care, particularly issues related to medical assistance in dying, from an interdisciplinary perspective that draws on medical anthropology, the study of contemporary religion, ethics, and law.

She serves as a research assistant on various research projects, several of which are related to pediatric end-of-life care.
