Graduate Student Scholarships – GRIN Winter and Summer 2026
Call for applications
As part of a new competition, the Groupe de Recherche Interuniversitaire sur la Normativité (GRIN) is pleased to offer master’s and doctoral scholarships for the winter and summer semesters of 2026.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for this competition, you must:
- Be enrolled full-time in a graduate program.
- Conduct research under the direct supervision of a regular GRIN member*.
- Be able to interact in French and in English.
Scholarship objectives:
To support graduate student research in at least one of GRIN’s three program areas (1. Normativity and rationality; 2. Normativity and affectivity; 3. Normativity and society).
Scholarship amounts:
The total amount to be distributed among scholarship recipients will be $25,000.
The exact amount of each individual scholarship will be determined based on the number and quality of applications received and will also be adjusted according to the candidates’ program level (MA or PhD). It may therefore vary between $750 and $1,500.
Duration:
Six months, starting February 1, 2026. Please note that a new annual competition will be organized in September 2026 for the next academic year.
The scholarship will be paid in a single installment during the Winter 2026 session.
Scholarship recipient applications: to carry out a research project in line with the proposal submitted at the time of application and within the prescribed timeframe, as well as active participation in:
- Scientific activities organized by GRIN and/or its members (workshops, seminars, colloquia).
- Activities and projects specifically dedicated to GRIN fellows: writing and training workshops; reading and/or discussion groups; preparation and participation in the end-of-year study day, etc.
- Setting up and carrying out targeted projects involving at least one researcher or at least one other GRIN fellow: co-editing an article, organizing a scientific event, discussion workshop on a manuscript in preparation, etc.
All initiatives are welcome!
Application format:
Please send the following documents in your application:
- The attached form duly completed.
- A letter of motivation (maximum 1 page) succinctly presenting: the research project (Master’s or Doctorate); how it fits into at least one of the areas of GRIN’s scientific program; how the candidate proposes to be concretely involved in GRIN activities and the added value of their integration as a scholarship recipient (see “Scholarship Recipient Obligations” section above for some suggestions).
- A letter of recommendation from the research supervisor.
- A curriculum vitae.
- The most recent transcript.
Applications will be evaluated based on the quality of the cover letter and the added value of the candidate, academic excellence, and the relevance of the candidate and research project to the GRIN’s scientific program.
