Biography

Sarah Turnbull is a first-year PhD student in Philosophy at McGill University, working under the supervision Natalie Stoljar (McGill). Currently, she is interested in research at the intersection of feminist philosophy, early modern philosophy, and political philosophy. At the moment, Sarah is researching the role of gossip in ameliorating harms from silencing as well as understanding the role of friendships in political resistance. She holds a MA in Philosophy from McMaster University where she conducted research on conceptually re-engineering feminism, and a BA from St. Francis Xavier University where she engaged feminist bioethical approaches to better understanding the role of oral contraception in the feminist movement. On the side, Sarah is a professional archaeologist and is working at developing a standpoint theory for archaeological storytelling.
