Atelier de philo politique: Charles Taylor
Vous êtes cordialement invité à la rencontre inaugurale de l’Atelier de philosophie politique de Montréal ainsi qu’au lancement du Groupe de recherche interuniversitaire en philosophie politique (GRIPP). L’invité sera Charles Taylor, professeur émérite de l’Université McGill, ex-titulaire de la Chichele Chair in Social and Political Theory au All Souls College de l’Université Oxford; auteur de nombreux ouvrages, incluant Hegel and Modern Society, Les Sources du moi et A Secular Age; lauréat des prix Templeton et Kyoto.
Il prononcera une conférence ayant pour titre Secularism in International Perspective/ Laicité: une perspective comparative.
Une réception suivra durant laquelle se fera l’annonce des lauréats boursiers du GRIPP.

The first Montreal Political Theory Workshop of the year, and the formal launch of the new Groupe de recherche interuniversitaire en philosophie politique de Montréal (GRIPP), will be 19 September 2008, 13.00-15.00, in the Heritage Room of the Faculty Club at McGill University, 3450 McTavish Street.
The speaker will be Charles Taylor, McGill ’52, Professor Emeritus at McGill University, former holder of the Chichele Chair in Social and Political Theory at All Souls College, Oxford; the author of works including Hegel and Modern Society, Sources of the Self, and A Secular Age; and winner of the Templeton Prize and the Kyoto Prize.
He will speak on Secularism in International Perspective/ Laicité: une perspective comparative.
A reception will follow, at which the winners of this year’s GRIPP Fellowship will be announced and welcomed.
Subsequent MPTW/ GRIPP workshops this semester will include Alex Voorheeve at the Université de Montréal, October 10, and Philip Pettit at McGill, October 17.
