Biographie

My research is inspired by social innovations not only as a source of empirical materials but also as a source of conceptual contributions. My focus is on social innovation in relation to water, justice and sustainability.

After studies in philosophy and economics at the London School of Economics and at McGill University, I co-founded in 2009 the social-ecological research group GETIDOS (www.getidos.net) based in Greifswald and Berlin. GETIDOS stands for “Getting Things Done Sustainably”. The maxim is a call for innovative action – do something! – and situates itself within sustainable development as an open process.

In 2017-2018, I am working on the book “Creating economic space for social innovation”, co-edited with Alex Nicholls as part of FP7-project CrESSI, and on water ethics and circular economy for the Era-Net project Clearance.
